At&t U-verse Internet service is becoming very popular and like Fios from Verizon is only available in select locations around the country.
DSLreports.com has a map showing where Uverse is currently available through gmaps here.
Uverse from At&t is actually not your typical DSL connections it’s actually VDSL (Very high bitrate digital subscriber line). The service is either bundled with AT&T’s residential phone service or as a dry loop DSL. Uverse is currently not available in NYC and only in certain parts of California and I dont see ATT overtaking FIOS anytime soon to compete in these area’s.

Mediacom communications which offers cable TV, Internet, phone and vip bundled services is boosting it’s download speeds for residential customers by a whopping 50%.
I’m happy that Internet providers are starting to get the message that customers want and deserve the broadband speeds they signed up for and that they fail to deliver more often than not. If you look at my previous post you will see that the united states ranks poorly when it comes to average Internet speeds with Japan and south korea leading the pack.
Verizon still leads the pack with it’s Fios Internet when it comes to speed, Verizon also offers DSL service.

Lifehacker has an article comparing broadband speeds in states around the country. Delaware ranks first and Puerto Rico ranks dead last. Actually the article is in regards to studies done that appeared in the LA Times blog.
The United states ranks far down the list of industrialized countries when it comes to what a user can expect from there Internet connection speed. South Korea and Japan head the list and the USA is 28th on the list. Why does it seem that we pay the most for the least quality? I guess were american and were supposed to be taken advantage of when it comes to paying more for less.
If you want to see the whole list visit the la times article above, if you want to test your Internet speed go to speak easy, but be warned I dont believe the test is that accurate, especially when choosing a server in California when your living in New York.

DSL Service provides residential users a high speed connection for a good reasonable cost. Many individuals don’t realize or understand that speeds for DSL are as fast as a T1 Line which top out at 1.5Mbps. What is the big difference then you ask?
To begin with you have to look at prices. A DSL Line can cost as much as $30 monthly on average where a T1 can run you from $250 to $400 if you live in a large city and as much as $750 monthly if you reside in a small town.
Why the major difference in price for a T1 Internet connection compared to DSL for the same speed? A T1 Line is much more reliable than DSL service and is not shared with others. Because your getting dedicated Internet access with a T1 is one of the reasons for the higher costs.
DSL Internet is suitable for most residential users and at a fraction of the cost. If you currently subscribe to DSL you may already know that your speed may vary during different times of the day, especially during peak Internet hours. Because of this there is only enough bandwith to go around and that is why you get less reliablity and slugishness with DSL Service.
Once again if your not a business with a high bandwidth demand, a T1 Line is not justified especially looking at the higher prices involved. Stay with DSL or if your shopping around a DSL Line will do just fine.

Telecommunications contracts for services rendered can be much like a marriage and as we all know there are nice and bad marriages. The fact is, when you enter into a telecommunications lessen with a T1 for reasonable amount of T1 Bandwidth or voice assist you module have to enter into a long constituent contract. Telecommunications contracts for T1′s and DS3′s typically arrange from 12 months to 36 months. Anything individual than a 3 year lessen is usually only seen in very super applications like OC-3 and OC-12 or complex enclose relay connections with many nodes. While the constituent of the lessen module not be a difficulty if you have the right provider, the lessen could establish extremely burdensome with the wrong bandwidth provider.
We highly suggest using a qualified broker to walk you through your many options and show you the companies and services available. A broker or business person can support reduce the instance it takes you to shop around for a T1 Connection by asking you the questions first and intelligent through binary providers to get the assist that is correct for you. The businessperson helps you of the bias you might encounter and obtain when speaking with one or various providers as the person will be compensated no matter which connection you choose. As the businessperson doesn’t work with a specific company like AT&T or Verizon, he or she will not direct you in that direction if they are not the right T1 Provider for your needs.
Remember that the bandwidth you choose should be your eyes and ears for quite whatever instance so verify caution in your decision to purchase T1. The worst conception of being with a bad company is the truth that it certainly will affect your business and your broadband connection. Disconnected calls or a T1 Connection that goes down can be dangerous to your place of business. We have noticed that the bigger service providers such as AT&T and Comcast will dismiss companies from long constituent contracts if shown that the voice T1 or data assist was faulty on a consistent basis, however the release from a lessen module not support recompense the damages of the lost telephone calling and mail from the bad services from your T1 line. When your going to purchase a T1 or bandwidth such as DS3 or T3 Internet Service we recommend going with an experienced broker and demanding one or two referrals from customers to provide you and your business an indication of what you can expect when purchasing a T1 Service.
